Questions about ADHD Coaching

What is ADHD coaching?

ADHD coaching is a specialised form of life coaching designed for people with ADHD or ADHD-like traits. Like any coaching, it helps individuals clarify their goals, overcome obstacles, and build sustainable plans for personal and professional growth.

What makes ADHD coaching distinct is its ability to recognise and work with the particular challenges of ADHD, such as difficulties with organisation, time awareness, focus, and follow-through. Many standard coaching approaches assume a level of consistency and executive function that can be harder to sustain with ADHD. An ADHD coach takes this into account, adapting tools and strategies so they are practical, realistic, and aligned with the client’s strengths and way of thinking.

In essence, ADHD coaching remains life coaching at its core, but with the insight and flexibility to include ADHD as part of the process, rather than working around it.

Who benefits from ADHD coaching?

ADHD coaching can benefit anyone who has ADHD, notices ADHD-like traits, or simply wants more structure and accountability in their life. It can be especially valuable during times of change, stress, or transition, when clarity and follow-through feel hardest to maintain.

What happens in an ADHD coaching session?

Sessions are collaborative conversations. Together, client and coach identify goals, explore what is getting in the way, experiment with strategies, and set up structures for accountability.

The process adapts to the client’s needs. For some, this might mean breaking things down into smaller steps and finding ways to get started. For others, it may involve strengthening routines, clarifying priorities, or working on motivation. Every session is designed to meet the individual where they are and move forward from there.

Do I need an ADHD diagnosis to work with an ADHD coach?

No. Some clients have a formal diagnosis, others are seeking one, and many simply notice traits that affect their daily life. Coaching is built around the individual, not a label.

How long does ADHD coaching take?

There is no fixed timeline. Some clients choose a few months of coaching to focus on a specific area, while others continue for longer because they find ongoing support valuable. The process adapts to each client’s goals, pace, and preferences.

Coaching with me

Are sessions online or in person?

My ADHD coaching practice is based in Ipswich, Suffolk, UK. I’m available for in-person sessions if you’re local or online internationally, whichever works best for you.

Are your coaching sessions one-to-one or group based?

Currently, all my coaching is provided on a one-to-one basis. If you’re interested in group sessions, please let me know as it’s something I’d enjoy offering in the future.

How often do sessions take place?

Most clients meet with me weekly. However, the schedule can be adapted to your needs. Some prefer a lighter rhythm, others find a more regular pace helpful.

What should I bring to my session?

You don’t need to bring anything formal, just yourself and whatever feels useful for the session. Some clients like to have a notebook or digital device for jotting down ideas and action steps. If there are particular challenges, documents, or examples you want to explore, bringing them can make the session more productive. The most important thing is to come ready to share what’s on your mind and what you want to work on.

Do you offer packages or single sessions?

I offer both packages and single sessions, so you can choose the level of support that feels right. Many clients begin with a few single sessions to get a sense of the process before committing longer term. You can find my booking options on my products and services page.

What is your approach as a coach?

I see every client as an individual. While my work is informed by an understanding of ADHD, coaching is never one-size-fits-all. Our sessions are collaborative: together we explore your goals, uncover what gets in the way, and build strategies that feel practical and sustainable. The focus is always on your growth at your pace, not on fitting into any rigid system.

Do you provide Therapeutic Coaching?

Yes. While my ADHD coaching is primarily focused on life coaching, goal-setting, practical strategies, and actionable steps, it also incorporates elements of therapeutic support. I am currently in training to become a Psychodynamic Psychotherapist on a BACP-accredited course at the University of Essex, which informs my understanding of how emotions, past experiences, and thought patterns can affect current challenges. This training allows me to approach coaching sessions with sensitivity and reflection, helping clients build clarity, resilience, and self-awareness while keeping the focus on growth and actionable progress.

Do you work with Access to Work clients? - (UK clients)

We can discuss the application process and how sessions fit within your support plan to ensure everything runs smoothly.
